Set in 4000 square yards of land, in a quiet Hamlet (3 other cottages) ½ mile from Bourdeilles village, the cottage is located on the top of a valley, affording extensive views from 2 sides. In Bourdeilles you will find all basic amenities (supermarket, boulangerie etc.), a small selection of bars and cafes, and the renowned chateau. By car the best crossing is Portsmouth-Caen/Le Havre then a 6 hour drive, alternatively Folkstone-Calais (Eurotunnel) then a 8-9 hour drive with Euro-Disney en route if you wish.
By plane 1 ½ hour drive from Bordeaux (Buzz fly budget flights from Stansted), alternatively a 3 hour train journey from Paris CDG to Angouleme which is 1 hour away by car.
Inside there are 2 double bedrooms, the Master bedroom has a double bed, 2 bed-side tables, wardrobe and sizable chest of draws with view over the valley, the 2nd bedroom has a double bed, 2 bedside shelves, dressing table, triple and double built in wardrobes. The bathroom has a Bath/shower, constant hot water, hooks, radiator, basin & shelf and there is a seperate WC. The large kitchen is fully equipped with electric cooker with oven and grill (also converts to small oven if necessary), brand new fridge, dining table and chairs, radiator. Central hallway and lounge has Sofa, two armchairs (one a recliner) coffee table, stereo, fireplace, radiator and lovely view of the valley (with double sofa bed to form 3rd bedroom if necessary). Externally there is a sizeable porch, BBQ, loungers, outdoor eating table and chairs, reclining chairs, an attached garage, outhouse and cellar. Nearby (6 miles) you will find Brantome, known as "The Venice of the Dordogne". Here is an extensive choice of bars, cafes and restaurants, often by the waterfront as Brantome is actually an island surrounded by water.
Nearest lake (5 miles from Brantome, direction Perigueux) is Brantome Plage with beaches and water chutes. Nearest hypermarkets are E. Leclerc (Riberac 20 miles) and Auchan (Perigueux 18 miles).
Sarlat, Bergerac, Poitiers, Cognac, Bordeaux, Brive, Arcachon, Rocamadour, St Emilion, Les Eyzies, Thiviers, Hautefort and Nontron are all in easy reach.
