Le Clos des Pélissous is a group of three restored Périgourdine farm cottages situated in the hamlet of Les Pélissous, approximately 8 kms to the north east of Bergerac in the Perigord Pourpre (or Purple Périgord, the colour of the fine red wines of the Bergerac region). Nestling on a hillside overlooking the valley of the Caudeau, a small tributary of the Dordogne river which it joins just downstream of Bergerac, the Clos des Pélissous offers quiet and relaxation in fine countryside, but with the advantage of being situated at a cross roads offering easy access in all directions.
An independent cottage which can sleep 6/7 in comfort. A large living room allows ample space for the dining area; an open hearth chimney is the focal point of the sitting room side where comfortable armchairs and settee invite you to relax . Large double glazed bay windows offer make for a very light and agreeable atmosphere. A colour television is also installed. Next to the dining room a fully equipped modern kitchen is installed with four burner gas hob, electric and microwave ovens, washing-up machine, and refrigerator in the back kitchen (which also serves as an additional storage room). To the rear of the living room is the main bedroom with double bed and en-suite shower, wash basin and toilet facilities. Upstairs two large and well lit bedrooms can sleep two and three respectively with single beds throughout. A bathroom and independent toilet are also situated on the upstairs floor landing; opposite a wall to wall fitted cupboard offers ample space for clothing, suitcases etc. La Vigne features full under floor heating on the ground floor and thermostatically controlled radiators in the upstairs rooms (sharing the central heating installation of the main house occupied all year round by the owners); it is therefore suitable for early or late season bookings. A full length 10m x 3 m terrace in front of the cottage offers ample space for eating or relaxing in the sunshine; two huge ash trees provide ample shade on the lawn area in front for those who prefer a cooler ambience. Car parking facilities are available near to the cottage. Le Sarment is an independent bedroom for two people with en suite shower and toilet facilities. It is available for letting as a supplementary bedroom with one of the other gîtes as required. To the east, within an hour's car drive lie Sarlat and the many beauty spots which comprise the Perigord Noir as well as the Vézère valley with its numerous prehistorical caves (Lascaux); to the west, also within an hour by car are St Emilion and the vineyards of the Bordeaux region; to the south the rolling hills of the southern part of the Dordogne and the Lot et Garonne with the many "bastide" towns (Issigeac, Monpazier, Molière, Villefranche du Périgord etc.) and fine castles which were witnesses of the first English invasion of Aquitaine; to the north Perigueux, the charming préfecture of the Dordogne department with its Roman and gallo-Roman vestiges, the Périgord Museum and the medieval streets now occupied by numerous boutiques.
Nearer at hand is Bergerac, a lively town with its colourful twice weekly market, its open air concerts and street animations in the summer season. A large hypermarket, numerous supermarkets and many town centre shops in "le vieux Bergerac" offer the opportunity for shopping and souvenir hunting.
The vineyards of Pécharmant and Monbazillac are near at hand and the wine growers most hospitable! Numerous restaurants and "fermes auberges" in Bergerac and in the surrounding countryside offer a wide selection of French and international cuisine.
Horse or pony riding are available at two near by centres, with excursions out into the surrounding countryside, where many rambles are to be appreciated by those who prefer walking. A nine hole golf course is open to the public in near by Mouleydier. Free fall parachuting can be enjoyed at Bergerac airport and canoeing , sailing or water-skiing on the Dordogne river are other open-air activities available nearby.

Heating will be charged extra for La Vigne when required at a rate of €80 per week Bed linen and towels are supplied free of charge (not for swimming pool use) A cot, high chair and baby bath are available on request (kindly confirm this requirement on booking). We regret, dogs cannot be accepted.
