Local Facilities/Places of Interest

Close by are excellent restaurants, one of the most beautiful villages of France (St Jean de Cole), medieval and Renaissance chateaux and Abbeys, trout fishing. There are lots of pretty towns and villages which are still unspoilt by the rigours of the 20th century where you can find a taste of true French life. Towns like Thiviers, Brantome( the Venice of the Dordogne) Nontron, and possibly the jewel in the crown Jumilhac le Grand which has a Chateau that seems to have come straight from a fairytale. In Thiviers, you will find supermarkets, local market, and a good shopping centre particularly for porcelain at very reasonable prices. It also offers many excellent restaurants with a range of eating experiences at very reasonable prices. To satisfy the more energetic there are local riding , fishing, tennis and golfing facilities.
