Set back from a country road, in a small hamlet of houses on the outskirts of St Quentin la Poterie, the villa is very well placed, just five minutes’ drive from the picturesque town of Uzes. Here you can wander along the narrow streets passing though low arches that reveal hidden squares which, on market day (Saturday, are teaming with colour and activity. There is a wide choice of bars, restaurants and shops and a good supermarket.

The main door leads to the pleasant kitchen with a large gas cooker with five rings and oven, American fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. Off this is the very pleasant living room with two sofas (one a sofa-bed) and two armchairs, satellite television and doors to the sunroom with table and chairs opening onto the poolside area. Also on the ground floor and two bedrooms, a double and a triple (three singles) a bathroom with shower, bath and basin and separate wc. Above the living room is a mezzanine with a computer and a double sofa bed. Separate from the main house, beside the pool, is an attractive studio, which has a double bedroom with television and French windows to the pool, and a shower room with wc and double basin.”

The Pont du Gard is about 10 miles away – and the cities of Nimes and Avignon and the wine producing villages of Lirac and Tavel slightly further. The beaches of the Mediterranean, the Camargue, famous for its horses and fighting bulls, and the Gorges de l’Ardeche, famous for canoeing, are all easily accessible for a leisurely day trip.
