The cottage is of course in the middle of the battle of Normandy battlefield, and indeed if you look at the back of the house you can see where a shell blew a large hole in 1944. You can visit all the D Day Beaches, and the various museums and monuments that can be found in each of the towns and villages on your trip to the beaches.
If you have time left you should visit one of the many cider farms, which are open to the public where the owners will encourage you to try the cider, calvados, and other apple brews, or go on the route De Traditions, which takes you to local farms where they make bread, grow snails!, and breed pigeons amongst others.
During your stay you should visit one of the local street markets, and enjoy sausage and frites cooked out side and buy the best local produce, perhaps a strong cheese or some sea food or veg.
In the gite we have plenty of tourist information to plan your stay.
