Property Location

'Le Domaine de La Plumardie' is a charming 16th/17th century rural property, most likely a previous noble estate, which still has more than 27 acres of pasture and woodland. The honey coloured stone houses have the traditional and very typical Périgordian style and are all set around a unique horseshoe-shaped central courtyard. La Plumardie is located in the lush 'Périgord Noir', in the very heart of the triangle : Périgueux-Sarlat-Bergerac. It is very close to the Vézère river and its world famous painted and sculpted caves and countless prehistoric sites as well to the Dordogne river, full of impressive fortresses and châteaux, old abbeys, medieval villages, bastide towns, vineyards, etc… Set on a hilltop site, in a secluded and peaceful setting, La Plumardie offers superb views across a rolling countryside and a lovely place to relax and enjoy the weather and the good living of the South West of France.

Places of Interest

La Plumardie is centrally and ideally located to explore the countless sites and delights of the Périgord. Within 10 km, almost every commercial, social, cultural, sporting or leisure facility is available. The property is just 6 km from the pretty medieval village of Limeuil where the Dordogne and Vézère rivers meet and within a short drive of Les Eyzies, the caves of Font de Gaume and Lascaux, the abyss of Proumeyssac, the troglodyte site of La Roque Saint Christophe, etc… The Périgord is quoted as the 'Pays des 1001 Châteaux'(in reality more than 1300 are registered !), so Beynac, Castelnaud, Losse, Hautefort, Lanquais…are quite close, as well as the old English and French bastide towns of Domme, Monpazier, Villefranche du Périgord,…the medieval villages of La Roque-Gajeac, Issigeac..old churches and abbeys (Paunat, Cadouin, Trémolat..), well restored cities (Sarlat, Périgueux, Bergerac..). The vineyards of the Bergeracois (Pécharmant, Monbazillac, Montravel..), Cahors and Saint Emilion are also within easy reach. Nearby facilities exist for golf, tennis, canoeing, 'gabarre 'cruises, fishing, horse riding, balloon flights, country biking and rambling, etc… Coloured day and night markets take place more or less in any village and town and there is every year all over this area a wealth of exhibitions and fairs, musical and folkloric festivals, antique and attic sales, outdoor shows and traditional celebrations, events of all kind. The traditional cuisine and gastronomy is another world to explore in small country or 1st class restaurants to enjoy the duck and goose specialities as well as all the other local products : veal, truffles, cèpes, cabécous, walnuts , strawberries…. It is up to the point where each visitor of La Plumardie gets a real problem : where to go first !
