Les Clotures is situated midway between Limoges and Poitiers in the Haute Vienne. We are situated on the edge of the hamlet of Les Clotures, which is in the commune of Lussac les Eglises. Here you will find local shops, a Supermarket and a Boulangerie etc. Supermarkets are also at Magnac Laval 13kms, and at Le Dorat 15kms.

This 18th century house has been beautifully restored and retains all the original features including oak beams and stonework. The large kitchen/dining room has a massive fireplace with "set pot" niche and a huge oak beam which was reclaimed somewhere in antiquity. The fully equipped kitchen was totally renovated in 2001 and has fridge, gas hob, electric oven, electric kettle, microwave oven, plus all the crockery and utensils. There is a downstairs W.C. off the rear entrance hall, where you will find the washing machine. The large lounge with a woorburning stove has two suites(bed settees) and satellite TV/radio, so you can still "wake up to Wogan" or, the kids can watch cartoon network in English should you wish to do so! There are two large bedrooms with real oak floors and beams, both have double beds and one also has a restored antique double bed measuring 1.8m x 1.2m. The bathroom has a good sized shower, wash basin and W.C. Outside there is a private patio area to the rear of the house with ample garden furniture, there is a stone built barbecue in the garden shared with your hosts. We also have ducks, geese(friendly), and chickens in the two acre garden ending with the river in the trees. All medium and high prices quoted include electric, gas for cooking, and linen. There will be a winter fuel supplement. The English owners will be on site to answer any questions you may have and to help you with restaurants and local places of interest should you wish them to. Please note that the gîte is only available to non smokers. There is now a 'receive only' telephone in the gite, so people can get in touch should the need arise.

Places of Interest

Swimming is in a lake 18km from the gite, with lifeguard, cafe, and play area for children, and tourist information in season. The area is full of historical and architectural interest. An ideal area for rural France, or visit the medieval town of Le Dorat, the local museum at Chateauponsac, or The Brenne wetland National Park. Less than an hour away are Poitiers with Futuroscope or Limoges with porcelain and fascinating "quartier ancienne". There is an excellent porcelain factory/shop at Le Dorat.
