Le Tapis is situated in the heart of the pretty Charente basking in sunshine amidst fields of sunflowers, corn and vines that are used to produce Cognac and the local aperitif Pineau. The River Charente lazily winds its way through this glorious countryside providing wonderfully shaded river banks on which to stroll or picnic. The Chateau of Rochfecauld lies to the east whilst Jarnac, Cognac and the beaches and port of La Rochelle are reached to the west along tree-lined avenues.

Property Description: Le Tapis, the family home of Jo and Gary Strand is available all year round with large sunshade umbrellas for alfresco dining during the summer and beautiful log-fires for the winter. The house itself dates back to the late 1700’s and features many unique details in its architecture and interior design. Large wooden beams span the great hall where everyday living takes place either with the French doors flung open during the summer or with a blazing log fire in the stone fireplace for the cooler months. Flagstones from ancient Abbey’s topped with Kalim and Persian rugs, tapestry 4 seater settees and a host of individual furniture provide a warming atmosphere in which to relax and enjoy ones holiday. Dining can be within the great hall or outside on the paved veranda overlooking the gardens The kitchen is superbly equipped with a large range-style gas/electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher, Fridge/freezer, washing machine, dresser and kitchen table. The Study is equipped with TV and Video, Hi-Fi, armchairs and settee and a beautiful stone fireplace and is ideal as an alternative lounge for smaller numbers of guests or a room for the children to escape to! The bedrooms are all upstairs and decorated to a high standard in a variety of different styles with wooden floors throughout. In addition to the Master Bedroom there are three twin bedded rooms, one double bedded room and one room with bunk beds for children plus a cot for infants. The Master bedroom is en-suite with wooden floors in the bedroom and mosaic tiled floors and traditional stonework around the bath and shower with large windows looking onto the garden and the surrounding countryside. In addition to the en-suite bathroom there are a further two bath and shower rooms and a separate toilet downstairs. The pretty walled garden has a 9 metre X 6 metre swimming pool surrounded by a variety of shrubs and lawn with sun beds and trees for shade and a paved area for dining and barbecues (barbecue supplied). There is parking for up to 4 vehicles. The Charente River is a two-minute walk away through the hamlet.
