Property Location La Vielle Forge is located 5km from Limogne-en-Quercy and 40km due east of Cahors. It is situated in the heart of a beautifully tranquil village and is conveniently located for many of the famous towns and villages of this beautiful region. Description of Property A charming old forge that has been lovingly restored by the present owners and features an enclosed courtyard. The accommodation is situated on three floors and retains many of the original features such as exposed beams and stonework. The property is fully equipped for eight people with comfortable furniture and soft furnishings to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The Ground Floor has a fully equipped twin bedded room, a bathroom with overhead shower, wash basin, bidet and toilet. The downstairs lounge, which was originally the old forge, is adorned with many of the original tools (ie bellows, leather piercing and cartwheel repairing equipment) that were used here, with bench seats and wicker chairs. The First Floor comprises a Lounge/Dining Area with a dining table that seats up to eight, a futon/bed, wood burning stove, french dresser and comfortable seating. A stable door opens onto the balcony which overlooks the courtyard. There is a kitchen area comprising of an oven, hob, sink and fridge. There is also a Double Bedroom and shower room comprising of a shower, wash basin and toilet. The Second Floor has two twin bedded rooms with a central area with a wardrobe. Outside there is a semi private stone walled courtyard, with garden table, chairs and a barbeque area (grill kept in the kitchen area).
Places of Interest There are many places of interest nearby; a few of which are: Limogne - a very nice town with its own swimming pool. Market day is Sunday and great fun. It has a full range of shops, garage, medical facilities and for the more energetic a hire shop for bicycles etc. Villefranche de Rouergue - historic town with plenty of shops and restaurants. Market day is Thursday. Rocamadour - ancient town built into a cliff face - falconry displays are held in the season. St. Cirq La Popie - acclaimed as one of the most beautiful villages in France. River bathing is available and the town is full of local arts and crafts and gourmet specialities. Cordes - picturesque hillside town where many local artists have their studios. Albi - home of Toulouse Lautrec - museum of his works showing a surprising variety of artistic styles. There are many grottos and caves such as - La Grotte de Peche Merle - underground cavern system featuring pre-historic cave painting, Padirac including underground boat ride and many more. Le Bois de la Font - leisure area with swimming pool, chutes, crazy golf, snack bar and other activities. Cahors - capitol of Lot - historic city with plenty of shops, restaurants and interesting architecture. Several market days per week and boat trips on the river Lot. There is also the local vintage to try along with an interesting wine route via chateaux and caves where sampling of the local produce is positively encouraged.
