The area is very scenic. The immediate forest near Forest View, is Foret de Saussay. Within the Orne region there are many different forests to explore. The gite is in a small hamlet. With the nearest town of Remalard being 5 minutes drive away. Remalard has a couple of bars, a restaurant, two bakeries, two banks, cheese shop, plus other small individual shops. Remalard and a few surrounding villages are twinned with the English town of Castle Cary with Ansford in Somerset. The town of Nogent-le-Rotrou is 15 minutes drive away, the town is reasonably large with all amenities available. The area is perfect for a 'chill out', relaxing holiday. The area has all the necessary amenities, catering for everyone, however it is a quiet part of France, with beautiful scenery, places of interest and a variety towns to explore. Many of the buildings in this area are still the way they were years ago.

The gite is a typical Normandy building, and was built in 1880. The accommodation comprises of 3 twin bedded rooms, sleeping 6 people. There is a fully equipped kitchen with a large fridge, freezer, cooker (all gas), microwave, washing machine, kettle, toaster, all the usual kitchen utensils, dining table and chairs. The living room has 2 sofa's, a television,CD/Radio, video and dvd player. We have a selection of video's and dvd's for hire at a small charge. The whole of the accommodation has central heating. The bathroom has a corner bath, with also a seperate shower cubicle. The kitchen and one bedroom of the gite looks out onto the Orchard at Forest View. The front of the gite faces onto a gravelled courtyard, with patio table and chairs, parasol and bbq available. There is a door off the back of the gite, leading out into the orchard, for your own use. The gite almost caters for disabled people, with 1 ground floor bedroom, living room, and kitchen. However, to enter the bathroom there are two steps.

Places of Interest

The town of Remalard (5 minutes away) has alot of history. Many of the buildings are still the way they were years ago, with not very many modern buildings. There are many 'Manor Houses' and Chateau's around the Perche area for you to explore, some are open to the public, others have an open garden to visit. There are walking and cycling routes varying in size around the area, they are all sign posted, many routes go through the forest. Horse riding is available in several places - leaflets are available when you arrive at forest view. At Remalard and Bretoncelles they have an open air heated swimming pool (open in July and August). All around the Perche area there are wine, cider and calvados producing places to visit, some offer tasting sessions. Most villages have a market at least once a week, selling local produce. The Manoir de Courboyer, is located in a 65 hectare estate, it houses the headquaters of the Perche Regional Park, Exhibitions, walking trails and tours of the manor are available. Mortagne-au-Perche and Nogent-le-Rotrou offer town tours. There are 2 flying schools in the area, which offer lessons. Archery is available at a town approximately 30 minutes away called L'Aigle. Approximately 45 minutes away from forest view there is a 23 hectare reservoir, which offers sailing, sailboarding, pedal boats, fishing, tennis, play area and a picnic area. Approximately 2 hours away is Disneyland Paris, the travelling is well worth it. You also have large towns and cities to visit and explore, such as Paris, Chartres, Alençon and Le Mans is approximately 1.5 hours away.
