Property Location Cantegrive, our 17th Century Perigordian farmhouse, is situated on 20 hectares (50 acres) of forest and pasture on a hillside with wide-open views.Our tranquil location on a small country lane overlooking magnificent valleys insures peace, quiet and privacy. Shops, services and sites, however, are close-by. Cantegrive is home to us and our horses . SORRY WE CANNOT ACCEPT PETS AND DO NOT OFFER HORSEBACK RIDING. Our two self-catering holiday rentals are connected but independent, surrounded by their own spacious lawns and terraces.
The large 7 x 18 m (20 x 50 fit) pool, in its own nicely landscaped area, is shared with our guests.We are mid-way between Bergerac and Sarlat on the south side of the Dordogne River. Our nearest towns are St Avit Senieur (pop 300) and Beaumont (pop 2000) which are quaint medieval Bastide villages. From Paris there are daily flights as well as the TGV (high speed train) to Bordeaux about 2 hours away. Description of Property La Bergerie (the former sheep barn!) has 100 sqm (1100 sq. ft) on 2 floors. The Ground floor with terra cotta stone tiles consists of: kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, oven, gas/electric stove. Living room with satellite TV and fireplace.The clothes washing machine is shared. Furnishings throughout pine and wicker.
Upper levelwith wooden floor: two bedrooms (one double, one twin) plus full bath/WC. Exposed original oak beams throughout. Outdoors are lawn table and chairs and a Weber kettle barbecue. Bed linen, personal towel, pool towel and kitchen towels are provided. Petanque, badminton and other games are available. Covered carport for your vehicle.
Places of Interest In the area you will find a variety of activities: canoeing, tennis, horseback riding, biking and golf. Summer evenings are a festival of theatre and concerts in the many lovely churches and chateaux which you can visit daytime as well. Pre-historic caves including the famous Lascaux will await your explorations. The acclaimed Bordeaux vineyards are a short drive away! Bergerac (pop 28.000) also boasts its own very good wines. The tiny Pecharmant area is mentioned in many wine guides. Sweet Monbazillac competes well with its big brother Sauternes. An aperitif? Why not vin de noix!?
